About Us

United Way of Henderson County (UWHC) has been a force of change in our community for over 60 years. We believe that everyone deserves opportunities that result in a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job; enough income to support a family through retirement; and good health. That’s why our work is focused on those critical building blocks: education, income and health.

Here at United Way of Henderson County, we work to advance the common good by mobilizing community resources to improve lives and changing systems to help our entire community. Henderson County is a beautiful place to live and work, attracting many new residents every year who want to enjoy small town friendliness and great cultural and recreational opportunities in a beautiful mountain setting.

But there are many people living here who face significant life challenges. Families struggle to find adequate housing, achieve financial stability, or stay healthy. Children enter kindergarten not ready to learn, and economically disadvantaged students fall behind their peers in their school performance. Join United Way as we embark on an ambitious ten-year plan (Henderson County 2025) to improve the quality of life for everyone living in our county by investing in solutions for key target issues.
